Mrs. Margaret M. "Peggy" Tucker, age 60 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, at her home. Peggy was born on October 22, 1952, in Jefferson City, Mo., a daughter of Richard and Dorothy Chapman Barker. She was married on December 18, 1971, in Jefferson City, Mo. to Steven B. Tucker. Peggy was a 1970 graduate of Jefferson City High School. After high school she continued her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse through nursing school. A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Peggy was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 30 years until ill health forced her retirement in 2002. For 18 years of her life she moved throughout the world with her husband during his military career to Okinawa, Japan, Germany, New Jersey, Texas, Ohio, and Arizona. During many of these years she enjoyed having a home day care and spending time taking care of children. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and she supported Mother's Against Drunk Driving, March of Dimes, and the American Heart Association. Peggy cherished time with her family and they will always remember her caring nature. She was a people person, who always enjoyed the holidays and making baby blankets. Survivors include: her husband of 41 years, Steve Tucker; four daughters, Jacqueline "Dee" Carter of Columbia, Mo., Katie Young and her husband Wally of Fort Deposit, Alabama, Shanna Green and her husband Greg of Dardanelle, Arkansas, and Brittany Tucker of Columbia, Mo.; one sister, Patty Schepker and her husband Ed of Warsaw, Mo.; one brother, Tom Barker and his wife Randa of Jefferson City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Richard "Dickie" Barker. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Tom Vansant officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Longview Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Wesley United Methodist Youth Group.
