Doreen Anna Bockting Sundermeyer, 88, of Chamois, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Autumn Meadows in Linn. She was born July 24, 1924, near Morrison, the daughter of Selma Bockting. She attended schools at Starke School, Chamois Public School, and Morrison Public School. Upon graduation, she worked in Pope's Store in Morrison. On October 9, 1943, she married Robert Sundermeyer at St. James Evangelical and Reformed Church, Morrison. Mr. and Mrs. Sundermeyer lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, Gulf Port and Biloxi, Mississippi, and Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas during World War II. After the war, they settled in the bottom between Morrison and Chamois where they farmed. Mrs. Sundermeyer was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Chamois, Chamois Lions Club, Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 506, and Busse Extension Club; bowled for many years at Rainbow Lanes; enjoyed family and friends, church work, cooking, sewing and traveling; and was always ready to help anyone at any time. She is survived by two daughters: Mary Hoelscher of Holts Summit and Susan Sundermeyer of Chamois; six grandchildren: Jennifer Marsh and husband Gavin, Brandon Hoelscher and wife Deidre, Rebecca Allen and husband Chris, Jason Franken and fiancÈe Mette Sondergaard, Justin Franken and wife Michelle, Joshua Franken and Erin Hartman; and 11 great- grandchildren: Audrey Hoelscher, Hunter Marsh, Carter Marsh, Kaitlyn Hoelscher, Blake Hoelscher, Alexis Boyd, Sophie Allen, Cole Franken, Ava Franken, Isiah Franken, and Jonah Franken. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and a granddaughter, Vickie Ann Hoelscher. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Millard Family Funeral Chapel, Chamois. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Frank Husted officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ and the Mid Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
