Jesse W. Dillon

Jesse W. Dillon, age 81 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Capital Region Medical Center. Jesse was born on May 4, 1931, in Dixon, Mo., the son of Walton and Lillias Grosvenor Dillon. He was a lifelong resident of the central Missouri area. Jesse graduated from Iberia High School and completed his education at the Iberia Academy. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict,, being honorably discharged on September 15, 1960 as a Sergeant. He was employed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 30 years retiring as a Sergeant in September 1991. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe Post 5, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; and the Wears Creek Yacht Club where he loved drinking coffee with his friends. Jesse enjoyed gardening, attending bluegrass festivals, and riding his motorcycle with several different groups of friends. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include: one daughter, Sheri Ann Carver and her husband Steven of Lehi, Utah; his special friend, Vera Bogler of Jefferson City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Ben Dillon, Lilly Carver, and Sam Carver; three great-grandchildren, Marshall Dillon, Jesse Dillon, and Jade Dillon; four nieces, Sue Carroll and her husband Al, Gayle Walton, Karen Speights, and Roberta Stover Hunt; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott Wade Dillon on May 3, 2000; an infant daughter, Staci Rene Dillon on October 15, 1962; one sister, Vivian Stover; one nephew, Jerry Stover; and his longtime companion, Eleanor Watkins. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with Mr. Brent Newton officiating. Private graveside services and interment will be held at the Lawson Cemetery near Iberia, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
