Norlan Herman Hackman

Norlan Herman (Hack) Hackman, age 77, of Hartsburg, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Harry S Truman Veteran's Memorial Hospital, Columbia. He was born December 3, 1935, to Arthur Henry Hackman Sr. and Nora Lydia Ackmann Hackman in Hartsburg. He married Jo Norris on January 22, 1965, who survives. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1953. He was in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1958-1960. He worked for Great Central Lumber Company for several years before going to the University of Missouri Custodial Supply Division, where he worked for 44 years until his retirement, due to ill health. He farmed part time all his adult life and the last 30 years has raised pumpkin. He was instrumental in supplying pumpkins for the Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival for the last 20 years. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Hartsburg and served on the Frieden's Cemetery Board for 25 years. Other survivors include: one son, Marlon L. Hackman of Hartsburg; one daughter, Holly Jane Hackman, of the home; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Robinson Funeral Home with burial following in Frieden's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2013, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Peace United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 19, Hartsburg, MO 65039.
