Kenneth R. Koetting
Kenneth R. Koetting, 67, of Greenwood, Mo., passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born September 16, 1945, in Mary's Home, Mo., a son of the late Lawrence and Hilda (Rehagen) Koetting. On May 6, 1967, Kenny was united in marriage to Carolyn Veit, who survived at their home. Kenny worked for various construction companies as a member of Laborers Local 264 for 37 years, retiring in June 2005. He also worked for the Lee's Summit Social Services for six years, retiring in 2011. Kenny was a member of St. John Francis Regis Parish for 43 years and was a Charter Member of the St. Regis Knights of Columbus Council #1367. Kenny enjoyed his years of helping coach his children, Denise and Gregg in basketball and football. Kenny's greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, especially spoiling his grandchildren, fishing, and spending time camping with the Veit clan. Along with his wife Carolyn, Kenny is also survived by a daughter: Denise (Chris) Salanski of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a son: Gregory (Amanda) Koetting of Henley, Mo.; seven grandchildren: Michael (Marisa), Madeline, Abigail, Mary, and Benjamin Salanski, and Leah and Olivia Koetting; a sister: Norma Jean Lepper; seven brothers: Jim (Martha), Bernard (Margaret), Dave (Elvira), Alfred (Janet), Tom (Leah), Larry (Eleanor), Ronnie (Carolyn); a sister-in-law: JoAnn Koetting; and 55 nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Wayne Koetting; a brother-in-law: Walter Lepper; and a sister-in-law: Sophia Koetting. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2013, (prayer service at 4:00 p.m.) at the St. John Francis Regis Parish Hall, 8941 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, MO 64138. Friends will also be received from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus Hall, with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m., with Fr. Mark Porterfield as celebrant. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, with Fr. Adam Haake as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Thomas the Apostle Parish Cemetery.
