Dorothy F. Hammen, 89, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Golden Living Center. She was born June 19, 1923, in Bandera, Texas, a daughter of Richard G. and Ethel (Hamilton) Ferguson. She was married December 25, 1948, in Jefferson City, to Aden L. "Jack" Hammen Jr. who preceded her in death. Dorothy worked at Scholastics and for 10 years for the Missouri Department of Health until her retirement. For many years she babysat out of her home. Devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was a loving, caring, strong woman. She was a faithful and devoted member of the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Hammen of Jefferson City, and Lori Tepper of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Misty, Greg, Jacob, Kimberly, Shawna, Alicia and Austin; and five great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Hayley, Skylar, Alexis and Aubree. She was preceded in death by a step-son and son; Larry Hammen in 1979 and Stephen Hammen in 1985; one brother, Richard; and three sisters, Hilda, Marjorie, and Maxine (DeeDee). Friends will be received from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Those desiring to make memorial contributions can be made to Worldwide Bible Education Fund with Jehovah's Witnesses.
