Mrs. Jeen M. "Dee" Harrison, age 95 years, a former Jefferson City resident, died Friday, February 15, 2013, at the New Bloomfield home of Martha and Richard Shaffer, where she had been lovingly cared for since 2005. Dee was born November 3, 1917, in Leeton, Mo., the daughter of Edwin F. and Edith M. Stacy Hausam. She was married on August 9, 1940, in Sedalia, Mo. to Norman Harrison who preceded her in death on July 18, 1987. A life-long resident of the Jefferson City area, Dee graduated from Sedalia Smith Cotton High School. After rearing her children, she was employed with the Missouri State Legislature as a skilled typist in the Perfecting Room and later as a secretary to Missouri State Senator Irene Treppler of St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the PEO. Dee assisted as an organizing member and advocate of special services for handicapped children in Jefferson City. Dee's son Eldred was a student at the first state "training center" for handicapped children. She also enjoyed cooking, her bridge clubs, tennis, and traveling. Survivors include: two daughters, Flower Shaffstall and her husband Jim of Hanover, Indiana and Jeen Steiger and her husband Dean of Washington, Mo.; two sons, Winn Harrison and his wife Mary of Holts Summit, Mo. and Eldred Harrison of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Jane Staley of Marshall, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Clayton, Andrew, Benjamin, Emmalee, Ashley, and Amy; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her step-father, John Martin. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 10:00 until 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Dr. David Henry officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
