Esther J. Gilpin

Mrs. Esther J. Gilpin, age 73 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 8, 2013, at the Capital Region Medical Center. Esther was born March 1, 1939, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Thomas M. and Vera M. Turpin Frasher. She was married on February 20, 1960, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Junior C. Gilpin. A resident of the Jefferson City area for most of her life, Esther attended school in Russellville and the Jefferson City Public Schools. She was employed with the Kansas City Assemblage Co. in Kansas City, Mo. and with the Fox-Stanley Photo Products from 1970 until 1985. She was then employed in the Division of Vocational Enterprises with the Missouri Dept. of Corrections from 1985 until her retirement on February 28, 2001. After retirement, she served as the church secretary at Calvary Assembly of God. Esther was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God and the Calvary Women's Group. An accomplished musician, Esther played the organ and piano at several churches in Kansas City and Jefferson City. She played keyboard with a group of musicians at Heisinger Bluffs and Villa Marie Nursing Homes. Esther's main love was her family and her church, where she nearly always played music, either the piano, organ, or accordion. The most important thing in her life, Esther attributed the love of Christ had for her as the thing that got her through all the good times and bad. Esther loved people. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Survivors include: her husband of 53 years, Junior Gilpin; one son, Thomas H. Anderson and his wife Linda of Harrisonville, Mo.; one daughter, Gerri R. Coulter and her husband Keith of Raytown, Mo.; one sister, Vera L. Glenn and her husband Walt of Lee's Summit, Mo.; two brothers, Tom Frasher and his wife Virginia of Jefferson City, Mo. and Robert Frasher and his wife Doris of New Bloomfield, Mo. She was blessed with five grandsons, whom she loved with her whole heart, Shawn Anderson, Brian Anderson, Brenden Anderson, Jeffrey Coulter and his wife Jessica, and Will Grauberger. She was also the very proud great- grammy to Aubri Lanai Coulter. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Vencil and Albert Frasher, and one sister, Marion Kohler. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m., Monday, February 11, 2013. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m,. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Jeff B. Higbie and the Reverend James McHaffie officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery.
