Ronald M. Taggart

Mr. Ronald M. Taggart, age 70 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his home. Ron was born May 15, 1942, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Marion and Margaret Henrietta Trotter Taggart. He was married on November 4, 1967, in Bremerton, Washington to Kay Proctor. On October 28, 2000, in Jefferson City, Mo., he married Debby White. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Ron attended Jefferson City High School. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served eight years. He deployed four years to Vietnam and was awarded two purple hearts and two bronze stars. Ron was employed for over 35 years as an electrician with the IBEW Local 257 in Jefferson City, Mo. prior to his retirement in 2006. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Oliver Buehrle Chapter 17 where he served terms as Chapter Commander, Missouri State Commander and National Chief of Staff. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; the American Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5 and the B.P.O. of Elks, Lodge 513. Ron attended Concord Baptist Church. He was a NASCAR Racing fanatic and also enjoyed fishing and collecting coins. Survivors include: two sons, Robert L. Taggart and his wife Lorri of Jefferson City, Mo. and Jeffery R. Taggart of Okinawa, Japan; one daughter, Tanya K. Hubbard and her husband Eric of Dixon, California; two brothers, Kenny Taggart of Columbia, Mo. and Gary W. Taggart and his wife Shirley of Gulf Shores, Alabama; one sister, Joyce Wesseldine of Columbia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held at Concord Baptist Church from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013. Memorial services with full military honors will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. A private interment will be held at a later time. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Ronald Taggart Memorial Fund or SSM Hospice.
