Mrs. Alma R. "Amy" Nichols, age 82 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Amy was born March 19, 1931, in Osage Bluff, Mo., the daughter of August J. and Charlotte M. Schmitz Miller. She was married to Charles E. Nichols, of Jefferson City, who survives her. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Amy graduated from Eugene High School at Eugene, Mo. She was employed as a switchboard operator with the United Telephone Co. for many years and later as a proofreader with Von Hoffmann Press until her retirement. Amy was a member of the Friedens United Church of Christ at Brazito, Mo. She enjoyed quilting at church, crafts, and gardening. She also loved walks through the woods, gullies and rocks of her family farm, Sharp Point Acres. Survivors include: her husband, Charles E. Nichols; one son, Colin Nichols and his wife Laurie of Jefferson City, Mo.; one grandson, Collier Nichols and his wife Amber of Jefferson City, Mo.; one great-granddaughter, Addison Ruth Nichols; and her extended family, Kelli Martin and Corrinn Martin She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, August J. Miller Jr. and Paul W. Miller; and one sister, Barbara "Bobbie" Beck. Private family services will be held at a later time. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Friedens United Church of Christ or Alma Nichols' Memorial Fund.
