Carmen L. Kolb, 88, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at Oak Tree Villa surrounded by her family. She was born on March 30, 1925, in Guthrie, Mo., one of 10 children of S. Chester and Alpha Omega Brown Yancey. On August 23, 1947 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Carmen was united in marriage to Paul H. Kolb, who preceded her in death on March 17, 2009. Carmen was a 1943 graduate of the Jefferson City High School. Carmen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Immaculata Club, Cole County and Callaway Historical Societies, Cosmopolitan Club Auxiliary, Jaycee Jills, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and past president of the American Business Woman's Association. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, singing with her sisters, time at the lake and entertaining family and friends. Known affectionately as "Charmin' Carmen", she had an incredible sense of humor and wit and captured the hearts of many with her smile, style and charisma. She is survived by her six children: Judith Rieke and husband Henry of St. Louis, Larry Kolb and wife Cathy of Jefferson City, Marilyn Teer of Jefferson City, Vincent Kolb and wife Charlesetta of Lake Ozark, Melanie Friggle and husband Mark of Jefferson City, and Jeff Kolb of Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren: Sean Rieke, Paul Rieke, Megan Rieke, Mark Rieke, Talia Jackson, Cori Teer, Alex Friggle, Amy Kolb, Ethan Kolb, Emily Kolb, Olivia Kolb, Vincetta Kolb and Abraham Kakraba; 10 great-grandchildren: Derek, Mark, and Cassidy Rose Rieke, Kayla Rieke, Jacob, Aiden and Samuel Hicks, Logan Meyer, Zion and Lazarus Jackson; five sisters: Helen V. Replogle of Fresno, Calif., Dean Fromme, Ruth Keown, Polly Dinning, and Mary L. Patterson all of Jefferson City; two brothers: William R. Yancey and wife Ruth, and J. Curtis Yancey and wife Sharon all of New Bloomfield and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother: H. Brown Yancey; one sister: Jean Hachadourian; and one son-in-law: Neil Teer. Friends will be received from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Helias Foundation or Cosmopolitan Diabetes Foundation.
