Leona Cox Wilson

Leona Cox Wilson, 85, of Holts Summit, Missouri, left her earthly home to take up residence in her heavenly mansion on Saturday, April 20, 2013, while being cared for in the home of her daughter, Janene Ford in Henley, Missouri, and surrounded by loving family. Leona Cox was born on January 21, 1928, a twin, to Frank and Myrtle Tibbets Cox in Blue Eye, Missouri. Leona was married to R.V. Wilson Jr., on July 2, 1945, in Helena, Arkansas. R.V. passed away in 1988. A resident of Holts Summit since 1970, Leona was an active member of Union Hill Baptist Church from 1988 until the time of her death. She had been a pastor's wife from 1956-1987. She was secretary at North Elementary School and Callaway Hills Elementary School in Holts Summit for a number of years. In addition to her large family, Leona had an amazing number of friends who loved her, and she will be missed by all. She is survived by four children: Barbara Ford and husband Russell of Troy, Missouri; Janene Ford and husband David of Henley, Missouri; Brenda Van Slyck and husband Harold of Holts Summit, Missouri; and Keith Wilson and wife Michele of Springfield, Illinois. She is also survived by her twin sister, Leota Kerns of Blue Eye, Missouri, and by 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Mark Ford, Sharida Havens, Julie Dominguez, Jonathan Ford, Paul Smith, Justin Smith, Matthew Blansett, Mitzi Mcintosh, Rachel Schanuth, Tawna Woods, and Amanda Woods. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and her youngest daughter, Melody. Visitation will be held at Slater-Millard Funeral Home in Holts Summit, Missouri, on Monday, April 22, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Enloe Cemetery, Russellville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church, Holts Summit, Missouri.
