Viola Marie Fleener, age 93, of Jonesburg, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Summit Villa. She was born July 26, 1919, on her farm in Jonesburg, the daughter of Charles Wencel and Louise Agusta Nee Fisher Wencel. On September 25, 1945, she was married at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesburg, in the country to William Lee Fleener. She helped her father farm and then her husband until his death in 1961 when she took over full responsibility for the farm. She raised crops, hogs, chickens and cattle. She always took great pride in her gardens. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong member of the ladies aid. She was a member of the quilting group which she took great enjoyment. She was a member of the VFW and American Legion. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Louise Wencel; her husband, William Fleener; and her two sisters, Emma Hagen and Marie Edwards. She is survived by her son, Donald Fleener and his wife Cynthia, granddaughters, Maria and Ruby; son, Ronald Fleener and grandsons, Mathew and Ryan. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, from 9-11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jonesburg. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Jonesburg City Cemetery.
