Virginia Mae Stokes

Virginia Mae Stokes, age 90, of Jefferson City, died peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013. She was a resident receiving Hospice Care at Jefferson City Manor, Jefferson City. Mrs. Stokes was originally from the state of Kansas and was born in Scott City on October 11, 1922. During World War II, she met and married Morris Stokes in LaCrosse, Kansas. After World War II, both of them attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University. For many years, Virginia enjoyed being a resident of Ashland. She was a member of the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ, Jefferson City. Virginia Stokes is survived by her husband, Morris; her daughter, Jo, and son-in-law, Lane Clark; four grandchildren, Marcus and Lori Clark, and John and Elizabeth Mendoza; and two great-grandsons, Jason Clark and Anthony Mendoza, whom she was very proud of. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 2, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.
