Ruth Isabelle Straw

Ruth Isabelle Straw, 81 of New Bloomfield, Mo., passed away Friday, September 7, 2012. She was born March 11, 1931, in Callaway County, to Alonzo and Lillian Bryan Boyer. She attended Center School and graduated from New Bloomfield High School in 1949. She married Herman Reid Straw on September 22, 1951, in Fulton, Mo., who preceded her in death October 23, 1987. She worked at Palmer's Store, Wilson's Grocery Store, babysat for many local families and then retired from Scholastic, Inc. She was a member of the New Bloomfield Christian Church and CWF. Her favorite past-times were cooking, shopping, visiting with her many friends and spending time with her family. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia (Al) Robinson of New Bloomfield and Leann (Will) Long of Clinton, Miss.; four grandchildren, Angie (Alan) Sullivan of New Bloomfield, Andrea (Trent) Beers of Holts Summit, Gene Long of Clinton, Miss., and Catie Long, New Orleans, La.; one great-grandson, Parker Matthew Beers; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Boyer; and three sisters, Lucille Mueller, Irene Dorsey and Audrey Nichols. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 2012, at New Bloomfield Christian Church, New Bloomfield, Mo. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jefferson City. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Debo Funeral Home in Holts Summit, Mo.
