Donald Eugene Kunzler

Donald Eugene Kunzler, 85, of Jefferson City, died Friday, October 19, 2012, at St. Joseph's Bluffs. He was born May 22, 1927, in Eldon, Missouri, a son of Roy E. and Anna (Croft) Kunzler. He attended Rock Island School in Morgan County, Eldon High School and Lincoln University. On June 12, 1971, Don was united in marriage at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City to Juanita Morton, who survives at their home. Don served in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force from which he was retired. His military career included service during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, serving in the Pacific and Southeast Asia. Following his retirement, Don and Juanita owned and operated a food business on the island of St. Maarten. He was involved in numerous other business activities after returning to the states. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and National Rifle Association. Don loved traveling, hunting, computer games, watching many TV shows, playing card games and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by one daughter, Anne Elizabeth Martin and husband Mike of Hampton, Arkansas; one sister, Darlene Hartman of Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Jana Martin and Marsie Clark and husband Kris; and four great-grandchildren, Madison Clark, Macie Clark, Morgan Clark and Jackson Scott. Don was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Friends will be received from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Msgr. Gregory L. Higley officiating. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Disabled American Veterans or a charity of the donor's choice.
