Mr. Ronald E. "Ronnie" Goff, age 74 years, of New Bloomfield, Mo., passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012, at his home. Ronnie was born on May 28, 1938, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of Dorsey Earl and Margaret M. Steinmetz Goff. He was married on March 21, 1959, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Joyce Wadley. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, Ronnie was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson City High School. Ronnie was a Heavy Equipment Operator with Operating Engineers, Local 513 out of St. Louis, Mo. for 55 years prior to his retirement on July 1, 2003. During his career, Ronnie worked on many construction projects all over the state of Missouri and loved spending time with his many friends he made through Local 513. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Assn. and the Buckskin Horse Assn. He was a past member of the Cedar City Baptist Church. Ronnie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids and attending their sporting events and horse shows. Ronnie loved his dog, Koda, and riding his favorite mule, Maggie. In his early years, he enjoyed coon hunting, rabbit hunting, and stock car racing. Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Joyce Goff; two sons, Michael W. "Mike" Goff of New Bloomfield, Mo. and Scott E. Goff of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters, Sheryl D. Jurgensmeyer and her husband Steve of Jefferson City, Mo. and Kimberly S. Mehrhoff and her husband Tim of New Bloomfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Amy Brown, Tom Boyd, Chris Goff, Michelle Boldrey, Kelli Schnell, Jeremy Goff, Dustin Mehrhoff, and Rylee Mehrhoff; and seven great-grandchildren, Lexi Boyd, Christina Brown, Alexis Goff, Jayson Goff, Maycie Goff, Drake Schnell, and Samantha Boldrey. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Debra Goff; and his father-in-law, John E. Wadley. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Lewis Curtis officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Ronnie was an informal person so his family has requested that friends dress casually for his visitation and funeral.
