Thomas Michael Meller, age 57, of Lohman, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at University Hospital in Columbia. He was born July 28, 1955, in Jefferson City, a son of Lawrence and Elizabeth "Betty" Groner Meller. Tom was united in marriage to Karen Ricker on June 21, 1975, at St. Martin Catholic Church. Karen survives at their home. He was a 1973 graduate of Helias High School in Jefferson City. Tom was a heavy equipment operator, working for Sterling Excavating, Stockman Construction and most recently Muenks Construction, until an injury forced him to retire. He was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church. Tom enjoyed being on the family farm, where could spend time on his tractor and watch the deer in the fields. When he wasn't outside he liked watching NASCAR, but his greatest enjoyment came when he could spend time with his granddaughters. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Christy Meller of Lohman; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Kaye Meller of Lohman; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Don Stockman of Wardsville; two granddaughters, Erica and Ellysa Schweer; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Meller. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 noon, Monday, October 15, at St. Martin Catholic Church with The Rev. Edwin A Schmidt officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Martin Catholic Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 14, at the Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville, with the family receiving friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Erica and Ellysa Schweer Education Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
