Stanley Joseph Schepers, 68, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born September 16, 1944, in Jefferson City, the son of Clarence and Helen (Jones) Schepers. Stan was a 1963 graduate of Helias High School. On April 11, 1970, Stan was united in marriage to Constance "Connie" McBride, who survives at their home. Stan was with the Missouri Army National Guard for 38 years from 1965 until his retirement in 2003. During that time, he worked in Maintenance Inspection and Quality Control. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He always looked forward to cutting fish every year for the St. Andrews Fish Fry. Stan enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, being a Cub Master and the Boy Scouts. He was a strong believer in voluntarism. Stan delivered Meals on Wheels for 12 years, and also volunteered for many things through California High School, including Project Graduation, Booster Club, Recreation Board and was awarded Parent of the Year in 1982. Along with his wife Connie, Stan is also survived by three sons: Daniel Schepers (wife Amy) of Springfield, Mo.; Robert Schepers (wife Glenda) of Aurora, Neb.; Jacob Schepers (wife Monique) of Jefferson City, Mo.; his mother: Helen Schepers of Jefferson City; three sisters: Beverly Buckley (husband Tom); Elaine Thompson (husband David); Mary Esther Prenger (husband Michael) all of Jefferson City, Mo.; and six grandchildren: Carsen Baron, Nick Baron, Ethan Schepers, Trenton Schepers, Isabella Schepers and Adalyn Schepers. He was preceded in death by his father: Clarence Schepers; and one sister: Linda Walker. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit, with Msgr. Gregory L. Higley officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church or Cole County Meals on Wheels.
