Jerry Clydean Switzer, 69, of Jefferson City, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012, at his home. He was born January 15, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of William "Clyde" and Frankie (Johnson) Wickenhauser. He was united in marriage to Karen Kay Kilpatrick on July 14, 1978, in Pontiac, Illinois. Jerry was employed as a machinist at Siebert and Son Factory, Chenoa, Illinois and in maintenance at Maytag Manufacturing. He enjoyed old cars, especially 1941 Studebaker Coupes, fishing, and loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He worked for U.S. Divers and resided in southern California for a number of years where he met his good friend, Dick Dale, the surf music king, and spent time with the legendary Beach Boys, playing guitar. He had a love for 50's rock and roll, the warm sunny beaches, Balboa Island, and motorcycles. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #294 A.F. & A.M. in Pontiac, Illinois. Jerry is survived by his wife: Karen Kay Switzer; one son: Chris Switzer and fiancÈe Sandra Brown of Jefferson City; two daughters: Julie Switzer of Bullhead City, Arizona and Heidi (Switzer) Tansey and husband Mark Tansey of Fontana, California; one step-son: Brian Boles and fiancÈe Andrea Folkerts of Pontiac, Illinois; one step-daughter: Candy LeCuru and husband Brian of Jefferson City; two brothers: Jim Switzer of Riverton, Wyoming and Chuck Switzer of Florissant, Missouri; one step-sister: Teresa Saxton and her husband Doug of Pontiac, Illinois; and six grandchildren: Ashley Duchesne, Derek Duchesne, Nick Graves, Megan Switzer, Kelly Switzer and Hailey LeCuru. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012. Funeral services will follow with the Reverend Murl Nash officiating at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City, Missouri. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Family of Jerry Switzer.
