Margaret Jane (Werner) Eisterhold

Margaret Jane Eisterhold (nee Werner), age 89, formally of Higginsville, Columbia, and Westphalia, Mo, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, in St. Louis. Jane was born in Westphalia on February 5, 1923, to Rose (Willibrand) and Alois C. Werner. She grew up there and graduated from Westphalia High School in 1940. After graduation Jane worked for Buschís Florist in Jefferson City and attended Business College. After graduation she worked for the Mo. State Highway Patrol until her marriage to Raymond Eisterhold on September 27, 1947. The newlyweds lived in Westphalia briefly before moving to Columbia where they opened an IGA Food store. Their children were born there and Jane became very involved in volunteering. In 1971, they moved to Higginsville and remained there for 33 years, before settling in St Louis to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Jane was active in the Catholic Church Ladies Alter Society in Columbia and Higginsville, and various religious and charitable organizations. She was a member of The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion and helped organize the local blood drives for The American Red Cross for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and helping others. Jane and Ray were married for 63 years, and he preceded her in death in July 2010. Survivors include two sons and their spouses, Paul and Kim Eisterhold of Chicago, Ill. and Carl and Kathy Eisterhold of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Ellie Eisterhold-Burr of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Brandy Craig and husband Adam of Indianapolis, Ind., Travis Burr and Mason Burr of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Piper and Dexter Craig; one sister, Jackie Brand and her Husband Jim of Lenexa, Kan.; and one sister-in-law, Alice Hilkemeyer of Jefferson City. She was also an aunt and great aunt of the Grove and Brand nieces and nephew. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerome. Funeral services will be conducted by Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia. Visitation is on Friday, Nov 23, 2012, from 10-11 a.m., followed by services and interment at Memorial Cemetery.
