Irene Dorothy Neuner, 93, of Jefferson City, died Friday, November 2, 2012, at Oak Tree Villas. She was born on June 17, 1919, in Freeburg, Mo., daughter of the late Theodore John and Elizabeth Marie (Lueckenhoff) Neuner. She was baptized at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, and graduated Freeburg High School in 1937. After graduation, she worked briefly for the State of Missouri in Jefferson City, after which she moved to St. Louis, where she became employed for several years with St. Agnes Catholic Parish. She later accepted employment as a secretary/stenographer in the Engineering Department of Monsanto Chemical Company (now Solutia) of St. Louis, where she remained for the rest of her working career. After retirement she returned to Jefferson City to be closer to family. She became a volunteer at St. Mary's Health Center, was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary, and The Daughters of Isabella. Irene enjoyed various types of needlework, piecing together and making quilts for special occasions, and tablecloths which were beautifully stitched. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Jeopardy, and attending family dinners and functions. She is survived by one sister, Margaret "Marge" (Bill) Bose; sister-in-law, Jeanette Neuner, all of Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Erma L. Hasenbeck, Loretta T. Neuner, and Mary Ann Neuner; her brother, Ted R. Neuner; an infant brother, Harry Neuner; and a brother-in-law, Linus Hasenbeck. In accordance with Irene's wishes, her body has been donated to the St. Louis University Medical School. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. David D. Cox officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Vitae Caring Foundation, 1731 Southridge Drive, Suite D, P.O.
