Nellie M. Meinhardt

Mrs. Nellie M. Meinhardt, age 93 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Friday, November 2, 2012, at St. Joseph Bluffs. Nellie was born on October 7, 1919, in Guthrie, Mo. the daughter of Robert and Flora Holladay. She was married on November 21, 1940, in Fulton, Mo. to Kenneth Meinhardt, who preceded her in death in January 1964. A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Nellie graduated from Fulton High School and attended Mariwood College of Beauty Culture in Jefferson City, Mo. After beauty school Nellie was employed for a brief time in a beauty salon in Fulton. She was a homemaker for the majority of her life and always enjoyed taking care of her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Concord Baptist Church and a member of their Adult Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the West End Extension Club. Nellie enjoyed quilting with her friends at church, cooking, gardening, bowling, and traveling, especially to the Holy Land and Europe. Nellie also spent many hours volunteering her time with Meals on Wheels and other volunteer services. Survivors include: two sons, Ken Meinhardt and his wife Lina of Overland Park, Kansas and Bob Meinhardt of Holts Summit, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Cindy Meinhardt of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Nina Bramon and her husband Gerald of Columbia, Mo.; five grandchildren, Shelly Walz and her husband Steve of Tampa, Florida, Jeremy Meinhardt and his wife Megan of Bartlett, Illinois, Shawn Meinhardt of Jefferson City, Mo., Ryan Meinhardt and his wife Skylar of Los Angeles, California, and Molly Hoskins and her husband Andrew of Kansas City, Mo.; and eight great-grandchildren, Henry Walz, Ava Meinhardt, Beck Meinhardt, Jeremy Meinhardt, Nellie Meinhardt, Amelia Meinhardt, Mabel Meinhardt, and Nash Hoskins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; one son, Kevin Meinhardt on August 19, 2012; four brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held at Concord Baptist Church from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012, at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend G. Dale Norfolk and the Reverend Dr. Monte Shinkle officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Concord Baptist Church.
