Mildred Ophelia Erisman

Mildred Ophelia Erisman, 90, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, at her home. She was born September 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank and Erma Jewell (Holbrook) Erisman. Mildred was a 1939 graduate of Jonesburg High School. After graduating she was employed with Swallow Airplane Company in Wichita, Kansas where she buffed rivets on war planes during World War II. She later transferred to Curtiss-Wright in St. Louis. In 1946 she began working at Butler Brothers, later known as Ben Franklin and City Products. She was employed there for over 39 years where she worked in inventory control. Mildred loved animals and would read four newspapers a week to keep up on current events, including pop culture. She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She is survived by one sister: Pauline Irene Kasmann of Jonesburg; one sister-in-law: Viola Erisman of Centralia; six nieces and nephews: Robert Kasmann (wife Ty) of Jefferson City, Wilma Wilson (husband Floyd) of St. Louis, Katherine Griebel (husband Jim) of Bluffton, South Carolina, Betty Gerdeman (Jake Epple) of Warrenton, Richard Erisman (wife Bea) of Centralia and Mary Wainscott (husband Bill) of Cordova, Tenn.; 15 great-nieces and nephews and numerous great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Paul Erisman and Harold Erisman. A Celebration of Mildred's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at the Jonesburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Jonelle Loehnig officiating. A private burial will be held at Benton City Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Montgomery Nutrition Center, Jonesburg United Methodist Church or the Humane Society of America.
