Gary August Fischer "Fish", age 69, of Russellville, Mo., passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Mo. He was born December 21, 1942, in Collinsville, Illinois, the son of August Ernst and Mabel Linhardt Fischer, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Lincoln Laboratory High School. Gary was united in marriage on October 30, 1972, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Lohman, Mo. to Libby Messer, who survives of the home. Gary began his electrical career working for his father's business, A. E. Fischer Electrical Service. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 257, Local Retirees 257 Club, Gary graduated as a Journeymen from the IBEW Apprentice program in 1967, as one of the youngest Electrician in the Nation. He was also past president of Local 257. Gary was proud of the fact that his family was one of the first Immigrants to Old Municburg in Jefferson City, Mo. Gary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was loved by all, he will be sadly missed. Survivors include: wife Libby of the home.; one son, L. E. Jake Fischer, with his wife Amy of Russellville, Mo.; one brother, Randy Fischer, with his wife Diane of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Carolyn Onek, with her husband Robert of Topeka, Kansas.; the sunshine of his life, grandaughter, Dallas Payne, with her husband Ben of Russellville, Mo.; and one great- grandaughter, Lorelai Payne.; three nephews, Austen Onek, with his wife Melissa; Zack and Alex Fischer. Visitation will be Friday, May 25, 2012, at Weber Funeral Home in Russellville, Mo. from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Alpha One, 2937 Southwest 27th Ave. Suite 106, Miami, Florida. 33133, or Local 257 Retirees Benefit Fund.
