Mary Esther Beck Nebel, 83, of Jefferson City died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born April 21, 1929, in Jefferson City, a daughter of August L.H. Beck and Bertha B. Krueger Beck. On May 15, 1929, through Holy Baptism, Mary was given the gift of everlasting life and made an heir of God's Kingdom. On April 19, 1942, she was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek. She publicly professed her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her Confirmation Verse was Revelation 2:10, "Be Thou Faithful Unto Death and I Will Give Thee A Crown of Life." Mary attended Jefferson City Public Schools and was a graduate of Jefferson City High School "Class of 1947." Following graduation she was employed at the Division of Employment Security, the Conservation Commission, the Office of Administration, the Division of Youth Services and Beltone Hearing Aid. On February 14, 1960, at Faith Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Marvin E. Nebel, who passed away March 27, 1997. Mary was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Those who mourn her death include her son, Rev. Mark A. Nebel, his wife Cindy and five grandchildren: Mary, Chelsea, Michael, Matthew and Clara all of Red Bud, Illinois; one sister, Grace C. Huey and her husband George of Holts Summit; two brothers-in-law: Harold Mueller, Sr. and Paul Walther of Jefferson City; one sister-in-law, Anna May Beck of Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth J. Mueller and Dorothy Jean Walther; and one brother, August M. Beck. Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Russ Bowder and Rev. Samuel Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
