Gregory Luetkemeyer

Gregory Alan Luetkemeyer, 64, of rural Freeburg, departed this life Monday, May 14, 2012, at his residence. He had been in failing health since December of 2011. He was born on December 16, 1947, at Jefferson City, the son of Edwin Gregory and Mildred Josephine (Schroeder) Luetkemeyer, Greg was united in marriage on October 11, 1969, at Mooringsport, Louisiana, to the former Miss Martha Jane Jacobs and was the proud adoptive daddy of two daughters. He was preceded in death by his father on September 16, 1990. Greg grew up in Freeburg and was a graduate of the Holy Family School. He attended high school in Westphalia and was a graduate of Fatima High School. He graduated his college studies from Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, Louisiana, and did his post graduate work at Louisiana Tech University at Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, Louisiana, where he received a master's degree at graduation. Greg had just retired from the Missouri Department of Revenue as a supervisor in the Drivers License Division. He enjoyed a variety of activities including hunting, fishing, woodworking and being a terrific grandpa. Greg was a United States Air Force veteran, and at the time of his passing, was a member and the Commander of the Paul A. Hasenbeck Memorial American Legion Post No. 317, Freeburg. He was also a member of the 40 & 8 Club, Jefferson City; the Civil Air Patrol, Shreveport, Louisiana; and a 50 year member of the Western Catholic Union. Those left to mourn the passing of Greg include his wife: Martha "Marty" Luetkemeyer of the home in rural Freeburg; two daughters, Toni Burkheart, Elizabeth, Colorado; and Denise Raborn, Shreveport, Louisiana; his mother, Mildred Luetkemeyer, Freeburg; one brother, Ken Luetkemeyer, Freeburg; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Carly, Brandon, Adam, Jacob, Brittany, Tia and Vannah; seven great-grandchildren, Jayden, Gracie, Levi, Addison, Grant anticipated in June of 2012, Ayden and Kaylaya; and other relatives and friends. Visitation for Greg will be from 3 - 6 p.m., on Thursday, May 17, 2012, in the Paul A. Hasenbeck Memorial American Legion Post No. 317 Hall in Freeburg with an American Legion Service at 6 p.m. and a dinner reception following. All arrangements are under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Additional visitation for Greg will be from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, on Saturday, May 19, 2012, in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Shreveport, Louisiana, followed by a graveside service in the Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, Louisiana.
