Virginia (Blair) Bowen, 96, of Eldon, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at her daughter's residence in Eldon, Missouri. On April 25, 1916, she was born in St. Albans, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Elmer and Elsie Lacy. She graduated from Scott High School in Madison, W.V., and Martz Beauty School in Huntington, W.V. She married Marcellus Dan Blair who preceded her in death at the age of 39 in 1951. She later married Clarence Bowen of Independence, Missouri who also preceded her in death. Virginia and Dan owned and operated a poultry farm at Etterville, Mo. She later moved to Independence where she managed the Federal Credit Union for Black, Silvers and Bryson of Independence, Mo. until it went out of business. She then went to work for American Chianina, Association before retiring. Virginia was a member of the Ninth Street Christian Church, Mt. Pleasant Quilt Club and a member of Eastern Star Golden Gate #58 of Kansas City, Mo. Survivors include one daughter, Joan (Blair) Newton, and husband William of Eldon, Mo. Virginia's two brothers, James and Burtsel preceded her in death. Visitation will be held on Monday May 14, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Ninth Street Christian Church of Eldon, Missouri with Funeral Services beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Chris Reynolds, Minister officiating. Interment will follow at Olean Cemetery in Olean, Mo. Memorials are suggested to Olean Cemetery, the Ninth Street Christian Church or Hospice Compassus. Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, Mo.
