Mrs. Loretta S. Chinn, age 80 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Adams Street Place. Loretta was born on December 11, 1931, in Canton, Mo., the daughter of Jesse and Laura Wood Crank. A resident of the central Missouri area for the past 60 years, Loretta graduated from Clarence Missouri High School. She was employed with the Department of Education and with the Division of Insurance for many years prior to her retirement in 1994. Loretta enjoyed cooking, needle working, gardening and watching sporting events, especially tennis. She was a devoted mother and advocate for her family her entire life. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was known for telling each child that they were her favorite. Survivors include: two sons, Bruce Chinn and his wife Kathy of Jefferson City, Mo. and Wayne Chinn and his wife Janet of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters, Paula McCurren of Jefferson City Mo. and Laura Hamilton and her husband Larry of Norman, Okla.; a special friend, John Wannepain of St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ernest Crank. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2012. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the Freeman Chapel. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Assn. or the American Heart Assn.
