Venita Angerer

Mrs. Venita K. Angerer, age 98 years, of Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away Friday, March 23, 2012, at Wilshire Care Center in Lee's Summit, Mo. Venita was born March 11, 1914, in Cole County, Mo., the daughter of William and Mathilda Ott Popp. She was married October 8, 1932, in Mexico, Mo., to Clarence Angerer, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1976. A lifelong resident of Jefferson City until May 2006, Venita attended Jefferson City Public Schools. She was employed as a switchboard operator with the Missouri Division of Health for 27 years until her retirement on March 31, 1978. She was a member of the Central United Church of Christ and the Esther Circle at the church. She also volunteered her time delivering meals on wheels. Venita was a collector of antique jewelry and glassware. She loved playing bingo, gardening and traveling. Survivors include: her son, James Angerer and his wife Nancy of Napoleon, Mo.; her daughter, Peggy Smith and her husband Richard of Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren, Mike Angerer of Raytown, Mo., Michelle Angerer of Napoleon, Mo., Alison Wade and her husband Eric of Tulsa, Okla. and Lesley Smith of Chicago, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Angerer; and her son, Don Angerer on July 23, 1965. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012, at Riverview Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Stephen Buchholz officiating.
