Dorothy Lansford

Mrs. Dorothy S. Lansford, age 84 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Dorothy was born on August 6, 1927, in Honey Creek, Mo., the daughter of Noah and Dora Propst Tichelkamp. She was married on August 1, 1945, in Honey Creek Mo. to William H. Lansford Sr. who preceded her in death on November 10, 1991. A lifelong resident of the Central Missouri area, Dorothy graduated from Wardsville Catholic School. She was employed with Tweedie Shoe Factory, Sunset Steak House, McGraw Edison, Dixson's Discount Center, Gibson's Discount Center, Double C General Store, and Gerbes West retiring as a cashier in 2001. Dorothy was a scout leader for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, camping, fishing and most importantly, spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. Survivors include: three sons, John (Lynn) Lansford of New Orleans, La., Bob Lansford of Jefferson City, Mo. and David (JoDee) Lansford of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three daughters, Diane (Walt) Buthod of Centertown, Mo., Mary (Jerry) Peters of Jefferson City, Mo. and Carol (Jerry) Rackers of Jefferson City, Mo.; two daughters-in-law, Grace Lansford and Susie Vogel; 17 grandkids; and 23 great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; son Bill Lansford; and brothers, Bill, Henry and Norman Tichelkamp. Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2012, with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. in the Freeman Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Reverend Gregory Meystrik officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at Resurrection Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter Building Fund.
