Mr. William Onger Jr., age 89 years, of Holts Summit, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Golden Living Center. William was born on December 3, 1922, in Jefferson City, Mo., a son of William Sr. and Emma Rose Keller Onger. He was married in September 1953 in Jefferson City, Mo., to Carol J. Segar, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2002. A lifelong resident of the central Missouri area, William attended Jefferson City Public Schools. He served in the United States Army for a brief time before being discharged in 1943. He was employed as an iron worker with the Iron Worker's Local #396 for over 30 years until his retirement. William was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family. Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Mueller and her husband Robert of Lohman, Mo. and Judy Burns of Platte City, Mo.; one son, James Onger of the state of Alabama; two brothers, Alvin "Roy" Onger and his wife Beulah of Holts Summit, Mo. and John Onger of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kurt Mueller and his wife Carrie, Keith Mueller, David Burns, Carol Burns, and Adam Burns; and two great-grandchildren, Simon Mueller and Emmerson Mueller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol; one son-in-law, David Burns; two brothers, Jack and Ray Onger; and five sisters, Nadine Hazelrigg, Alene Jones, Lorene Williams, Elsie Schanuth, and Ethel McCasland. Visitation will be at Freeman Mortuary from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Josh Knippa officiating. Graveside services and interment will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Heisinger Bluffs.
