Mr. Mohsen Mirtaheri, age 73 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. Mohsen was born on May 23, 1938, in Tehran, Iran, where he lived almost his entire life. He was married to Soghra Hosseini in 1954 in Tehran, Iran. They were celebrating 48 wonderful years together. Mohsen wanted to become a United States citizen and began his journey to our beautiful country. In 2007, he made his way across the Atlantic with his wife to America, where anything is possible. Becoming a citizen required many trips to and from his native country. This year he was preparing to take his exam. Ironically, Mohsen may never have become a United States citizen, but he will be buried in and on American soil. He was an avid piano player and loved spending time with his grandchildren, watching them play basketball and soccer. Survivors include: his wife, Soghra Mirtaheri; one son, Piman Mirtaheri and his wife Sara of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter, Padideh Esfahanion and her husband Mojtaba of Tehran, Iran; one sister, Azati Mirtaheri of Tehran, Iran; three brothers, Mahmod Mirtaheri, Jalal Mirtaheri, and Yahya Mirtaheri, all of Tehran, Iran; and two grandchildren, Matthew Mirtaheri of Jefferson City and Parsa Esfahanion of Tehran, Iran. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Graveside services and interment were held on Monday, March 26, 2012, at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. A Celebration of Mohsen's Life with friends and family was held immediately after the graveside service at his son's home. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Concord Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary. www.freemanmortuary.com
