Henry Luecke (Veteran)

Henry B. Luecke, 87, of Jefferson City, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at St. Joseph's Bluff. Henry was born on August 2, 1924, in Westphalia, a son of the late William Frank and Johanna (Wilde) Luecke. He was a 1942 graduate of Westphalia High School. After high school, he joined the United States Maritime Services, the War Shipping Administration, from July 1943 to July 1945. While he was in the South Pacific in New Guinea, he ran into one of his high school classmates Clarence "Butch" Castrop. Upon returning home he was employed a short time with the Missouri Department of Transportation, Bridge Crew. He then worked for the United States Government FAA for 30 years, 28 of those years were spent in Alaska. He retired in 1983 and made his home in Gladstone. On February 15, 1992, Henry was united in marriage to Doris M. Roberts Houser, she survives at their home. Henry was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and attending auctions. Along with his wife Doris, he is survived by three step-daughters: Kathy Houser Dulle of Jefferson City, Patti Houser Norman (husband Lee) of Lyons, Kansas, and Gwen Houser Gerity, of the home; six step-grandchildren: Nathan Dulle (wife Alexis) of Kansas City, Natalie Dulle of Kansas City, Rachel Link (husband Temple) of Chase, Kansas, Ken Norman (wife Sharon) of Alden, Kansas, Heather Gerity and Darci Gerity, both of the home; five step great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Regina Paulsell (husband Jim), Bernice White (husband Lee), Marie Luecke and Leona Luecke; and one brother: Joseph Luecke. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
