Mary Jo Carmichael, age 92, of Warsaw, Missouri, a former Centerville resident, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at her home in Warsaw. She was born the daughter of James and Bertie (Osborn) Swan on September 12, 1919, on a farm 4 Ω miles west of Mystic, Iowa. She graduated from New Sharon High School in 1936. On September 5, 1937, she was united in marriage to Richard K. "Pete" Carmichael. Unto this union two children were born. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Richard "Pete" Carmichael on May 4, 1977; five sisters, Lela Spliker, Vera Smith, Dortha Lamis, Dixie Sheston and Gretchen Zezelich; two brothers, James Swan and Richard Swan. Mary Jo is survived by: one daughter, Patty Jo Nickels of Warsaw, Missouri; one son, James Richard Carmichael of Jefferson City, Missouri; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Talbot of Centerville, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville with burial to follow. Visitation will be held on Monday, one hour before services at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present.
