Albert John Hoehler, 82, of Jefferson City, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, Illinois. He was born August 31, 1929, in Jefferson City, the son of John Walter and Alma Anna (Viesmann) Hoehler. Albert attended Trinity Lutheran School, was a 1947 graduate of Jefferson City High School, and was a 1959 graduate of the University of Missouri - Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. On December 22, 1961, Albert was united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City to Mary Sommerer, who preceded him in death on April 21, 1967. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1951 - 1952 in the western Pacific during the Korean War. Albert worked for General Foods Corp. from 1959-1963, Missouri Division of Commerce from 1963-1974, Shryack-Hirst Grocery Co. from 1975-1981, and was a field appraiser for the Cole County Assessor's Office from 1982 until his retirement in 1993. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include one son, Rev. David J. Hoehler, his wife Emma and their daughter Zoe of Shobonier, Illinois; and one sister, Antonia Rafter of Green Valley, Arizona. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Florence Rogers, Anna Welchner, Pauline Dupey; two brothers: Walter Hoehler, David Hoehler; and two infant siblings. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Russ Bowder and Rev. Samuel Powell officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
