Rusty Kibbee (Veteran)
Retired Petty Officer First Class Rusty Raymond Kibbee, 44, of Jefferson City, Missouri, formerly of Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at his home. He was born September 15, 1967, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of William and Delores Beardmore Kibbee. On August 3, 2002, he was united in marriage to Sonya Janelle Mueller. Rusty was a 1986 graduate of Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Rusty proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy as an Electrician's Mate until he retired in August 2006. He was qualified both as a surface warfare specialist and an aviation warfare specialist. His duty stations included San Diego, Calif.; Norfolk, Va.; Yokosuka, Japan; and Camp David Presidential Retreat in Maryland. Rusty earned multiple meritorious awards and service medals while serving. After retirement, he was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia as a member of the team constructing the USS George H.W. Bush Aircraft Carrier. In 2009, he relocated with his family to Jefferson City, Missouri. Rusty was presently employed at Modine Manufacturing Company in Jefferson City. He enjoyed various hobbies and being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and archery. He is survived by his wife, Sonya Kibbee and three children: Daniel Kibbee, Trevor Kibbee and Jordan Mueller, all of Jefferson City, Mo.; his mother: Delores Kibbee of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one brother: Wayne Kibbee of Hudson, Iowa; two sisters: Dawn Janssen (Brent) of Allison, Iowa and Cherrie Northrup (Larry) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Rev. Orv and Clara Mueller of Florissant, Mo.; sister-in-law: Sara Peters (Michael) of Fitchburg, Wis.; brother-in-law: Kevin Mueller (Jenny) of Buda, Texas; four nephews: Cody, John, Christopher and Robert; and three nieces: Melissa, Samantha and Rachel. He was preceded in death by his father: William Kibbee; paternal grandparents: Raymond and Lillie Kibbee, and maternal grandparents: Calvin and Thelma Beardmore. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, Missouri from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Tony Alter officiating. A second visitation will be held at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa.
