Kenneth Augustine (Veteran)

Kenneth Ray Augustine, 71, of Jefferson City, died Friday, March 2, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City. He was born June 12, 1940, in Washington, a son of the late George and Rose Mary (Gardner) Augustine. On July 6, 1991, in Florence, he was married to Catherine Rohr Suggs, who preceded him in death on January 25, 2010. He was raised in Washington. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked on the barges on the Missouri River with his father. He worked as a bartender for nearly 20 years until his health declined. He loved his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle and enjoyed going on excursions. He was a devoted son and took very good care of his parents. He was a generous man and loved his grandchildren. He is survived by three children, Douglas Ray Augustine, Carla Augustine, and Deborah Augustine; a step-daughter, Margaret Lebs; a sister, Norma Cason; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Kenny Ray Augustine and Nathan Augustine. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia with William P. Griffing officiating. Pallbearers will be Leon T. Hinckley, Michael Mahnken, Charles Blaha, Leon Henderson, Shayn Schwarten and George Bedwell. Burial will be in the Florence United Methodist Church Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 2591. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral chapel.
