Betty Jean Ford, 83, of Henley, Mo., died Saturday, March 3, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center. She was born on March 28, 1928, in Jefferson City, the daughter of the late Cecil Norwood and May Elizabeth Scruggs Scott. She was married on January 14, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Joseph Shields Ford who survives at the home. Mrs. Ford retired in 1982 as Postmaster of the Henley Post Office after 34 years with the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Other survivors include four children, Russell (Barbara) Ford, Troy, Mo.; Curtiss (Dolly) Ford, Gainesville, Ga.; David (Janene) Ford, Henley, Mo.; and Bettie Jo (Jim) Hill, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lenora Manning, Jefferson City. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. yesterday, Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hill Jr., officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Memorials were suggested to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 7804 Heritage Highway, Jefferson City, MO 65109.
