Myrtle E. Propst, age 91, of Jefferson City, formerly of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jefferson City. She was born October 16, 1920, in Cole County, the daughter of Nathan and Georgia Amos Kroeger, both of whom preceded her in death. Myrtle was united in marriage on July 16, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Honey Creek, to Louis William (Luke) Propst, who also preceded her in death, July 1993. She retired August 31, 1982, after many years of service from the Mo. Department of Transportation. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stringtown. Myrtle enjoyed sewing quilts, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed. Survivors include: two sons, Jerry L. Propst with his wife Marsha, and Allan Propst with his wife Doris, all of Russellville; one brother, Ronald Kroeger of Affton; two sisters, Mary Bates of Henley and Charlene Bernskoetter of Jefferson City; three grandchildren, Dr. Tiffany Propst DVM of Joplin, Andrew Propst of Columbia, and Benjamin Propst of Russellville; and one sister-in-law, Donna Kroeger. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Viola Pohle of St. Louis; and two brothers, Omar Kroeger, Bremerton, Wa. and Everett Kroeger, Montgomery City. Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stringtown, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Warren Brandt officiating. Internment will be in the St. Johns Lutheran cemetery in Stringtown. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice Compassus, 600 Monroe St., Jefferson City, MO 65101, or St. Johns Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
