Laverne Vogel

Laverne Vogel, 88 years old, of LaPorte, Ind., passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, in LaPorte, Ind. She was born on March 5, 1924, in Jefferson City, Missouri, daughter of the late Howard and Florence (Kemple) Groves. On November 19, 1942, in Jefferson City, Missouri, she married Russell Vogel, who died on October 5, 1974. She retired after 30 years of work at Recticel Foam. She also worked at LaPorte Liquor for 30 years. Survivors include: her son, Ralph (Carol) Vogel of LaPorte; daughter, Betty (Dr. Alva R.) Miller of Leesburg, Fla.; one grandson, Todd (Tina) Vollrath of Moscow Mills, Mo.; three granddaughters, Lori (Mark) Wilhelm of Littleton, Colo., Traci (Jeff) Kling of LaPorte, and Tonya James of LaPorte; 14 great- grandchildren; one sister, Patti (Doug) Sullens of Jefferson City, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Howard Groves Jr., and sister, Esther Kliethermes. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Pine Lake Cemetery with Rev. Carl Galloway officiating. Cremation has taken place. Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center has been entrusted with the arrangements. Contributions may be made to the LaPorte Missionary Church Building Fund or First Step LaPorte.
