Kenneth Perry Varnell, 51 of Eugene, passed away Friday, June 15, 2012, at his residence. On December 12, 1960, he was born in Frankfort, Germany, the son of Raymond Henry and Geneva Pauline (Sooter) Varnell. Kenneth was a 1979 graduate of Cole R-5 School in Eugene. Kenneth was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, rock and roll and blues music. He was a very witty person and in his younger years was an all-star basketball player. Survivors include: his parents, Raymond and Geneva Varnell of Eugene; daughters and sons-in-law, Jesse and Randy Hentges of Jefferson City, Gena and Aaron Sutton of Hermann, and Evie Bauer of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Kadence, Hunter, and Harper Hentges; Jada, Trinity and Kenzie Sutton. Three brothers, Mickey, Terry and Mark Varnell, preceded him in death. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon, with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Gene Edward officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Tuscumbia. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in care of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home of Eldon.
