Joseph Boehmer

Joseph Leo Boehmer, age 83, of Freeburg, departed this life Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in the Victorian Manor, Vienna. He had been in failing health for some time. He was born on February 2, 1929, at Freeburg, a son of Leo and Anna (Boessen) Boehmer. Mr. Boehmer was united in marriage on November 28, 1957, at Freeburg, to Georgia Catherine Falter, and to this union, one daughter was born. Mr. Boehmer was a veteran of the United States Army; a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg; and the Paul Hasenbeck Memorial American Legion Post No. 317, Freeburg. He was a lifelong farmer in Osage County and enjoyed hunting. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Boehmer include: his wife, Georgia Boehmer of the home; one son-in-law, Mark Berhorst, Freeburg; one granddaughter, Christine Ragan and husband Jeremy of Troy; one grandson, Craig Berhorst and friend, Jennifer Stratman, Freeburg; two great-grandsons, Austin Ragan and Tyler Ragan, both of Troy; one sister, Rita Bure and husband Anton, Westphalia; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Catherine (Boehmer) Berhorst on September 3, 1992 and his parents. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. Boehmer at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012, in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, with Rev. Phil Niekamp officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Holy Family Cemetery, Freeburg, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2012, with an American Legion Service at 7 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service and 9-10 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2012, all in the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg. Masses are preferred by the family with envelopes available at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, or the Vienna Office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
