James R. Singer, 70, of Taos, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on July 2, 1941, in Jefferson City, the son of the late Walter Andrew and Treva Edwards Singer. He was united in marriage on April 10, 1986, in Jefferson City to Ruth A. Forck, who survives at the home. Jim attended Jefferson City High School. He worked at Von Hoffmann Press for over 30 years, until his retirement. He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Jim enjoyed hunting, gambling, visiting pawn shops, and wheeling and dealing. He found much joy spending time with his beloved dog, "PeeWee". Jim is also survived by his five children: Darrell Singer and his wife Rita of Taos, Carol Forck and her husband Tony of Taos, Kathy Welch and her husband Jim of St. Martins, Karen Herman and her fiancÈe Mike Wankum of St. Martins, and James " Jim" Singer and his wife Cathy of Taos; two sisters: Linda Batye of Columbia and Jane Forck and her husband Tom of Ashland; 11grandchildren: Angie and Christopher Singer; Matt, Luke and Robin Forck; Brad and Kelly Welch; Valerie and Bobby Herman; and Michael and Michelle Singer; and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers: Larry and Tom Singer; and one son-in-law: Bob Herman. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012, at the Taos Knights of Columbus Hall, where a prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, 2012, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Fr. Ignazio Medina officiating. Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Precious Patches Relay for Life Team.
