Clellan Nichols, age 87, of Ashland, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Ashland Villa with her family present. Clellan was born January 9, 1925, in Hartsburg, the daughter of Hubert and Josephine Sapp Wilson. Clellan had lived her whole life in Boone County and married Leo Nichols on January 10, 1942. When Leo returned from service, they bought a farm near Ashland where she was a homemaker. He preceded her in death in February 1972. Clellan returned to school and received her GED then on to clerical school. She was employed at MFA Incorporated 20 years as a file clerk. After retiring, she did some child care and home aid to ill people. She was a lifelong member of Goshen Primitive Baptist Church in Hartsburg. She was also a member of the Ashland American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include: her sons, Mickey Nichols and his wife Glenda of Hallsville, Larry Nichols of Ashland, and Joe Nichols and his wife Shanda of Hallsville; her daughters, Thelma Sweezer of Ashland, Karen Bowen and her husband Frankie of Clark, Marian Lee White and her husband Bear of Festus, Vickie Lou Gerken of Fayette, Wanda Nichols and her husband Danny of Jefferson City, and Helen Harmon and her husband Randy of Columbia; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, two grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Monday, June 11, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice Advantage in care of the family.
