Grant Hubert Gallatin

Grant Hubert Gallatin, 85, of Fulton, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012, at The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place in Columbia. He was born May 24, 1927, in Mokane, the son of the late Paul Hubert Gallatin and the late Dolly M. (Northern) Gallatin. On November 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to Cary Ann (Burre) Gallatin, who survives his passing. Grant was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Grant worked as Plant Superintendent at Central Electric for many years. He was a member of New Bloomfield Methodist Church. Grant was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years, Mokane Eastern Star for over 50 years, a past member Jefferson City Shriners, and a member of IBEW Electrical union 257. He was also a past member of the Mokane Volunteer Fire Department, was a 4-H Electrical Instructor, was a member of Spinning Heels Square Dance Club, and was a campground host for Bennett Springs, Mark Twain, Table Rock Lake, and Ozark State Parks. Grant enjoyed woodcarving, fishing, RVing and traveling to Texas. Grant loved life and spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Dennis Wayne Gallatin and wife Doris of Holts Summit; one daughter, Anna Ruth Gopez and husband Dan of Holts Summit; one sister, Norma Watson and husband Frank of Fulton; one brother, Paul J. Gallatin and wife Lena Belle of Fulton; five grandchildren, Derrick Gallatin of Columbia, Tim Gallatin and wife Allison of Fulton, Bryce Gallatin and wife Soula of Columbia, Lacy Gorsh and Brad Martens, and Alan Gorsh, of Independence; five great-grandchildren, three step- grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Sue Gallatin of Georgia; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Grant was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth L. Gallatin. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday August 2, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Rev. David Hartsfield officiating. Interment will be held in the Steedman Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, also at Maupin Funeral Home.
