Robert Leon Vaught, 43, of Holts Summit, died Friday, July 14, 2012, at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1969, in Jefferson City. Leon worked for Jim Lewis Tire, McKnight Tire and TCI Cable. He was an avid racing fan, with his favorite driver being Tony Stewart. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, listening to country music and talking with other on his CB radio. Survivors include his parents: Fred and Sandra Vaught of Holts Summit; three children: Justin Vaught of Eugene, Jessica Vaught of Jefferson City, Skyler Vaught of Jefferson City; one sister: Donna Patrick of Jefferson City; his maternal grandmother: Peggy McMurtry of Jefferson City; an uncle: Steve McMurtry of Jefferson City; a grandson: Hunter; and his former wife, Melissa Ann Vaught of Henley. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kevin Patrick; maternal grandfather, Everett McMurtry; and paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Thelma Marie Vaught. Friends will be received from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, Holts Summit, where funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
