Anna Jane Blumhost

Anna Jane Blumhost, 95, of Jefferson City, Mo., went to be with her Lord, Monday, June 26, 2012. She was born January 6, 1917, in Clinton, Mo., the daughter of Rufus Sheldon and Elizabeth Jennings Smith, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on January 6, 1935, to Laney Gibbons Blumhost, who preceded her in death on October 25, 1976. Also, one son, Shelby Temple Blumhost, of Locust Grove, Okla. who passed away January 18, 2011. She attended school in Clinton, Mo. She was employed by Mattingly Brothers Store for many years. After her children were born, she was a stay at home mother, but did catering work, doing luncheons and dinners for friends and making cakes and pies for restaurants. Anna Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Mo. She was a past Regent of the Udolpha Miller Dorman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Clinton, Mo. She became a member October 17, 1946. After moving to Jefferson City, in 1985, moved her membership to Jane Randolph Jefferson Chapter and is now a 66 year member of the organization. Survivors include: One daughter: Elizabeth Ann Blumhost of the home; daughter-in-law: Betty Jean (Cornell) Blumhost of Locust Grove, Okla.; grandson: Kevin and wife Kim Blumhost of Conroe, Texas; granddaughter: Patricia and husband Allen Cox of Locust Grove, Okla.; sister-in-law: Wanda and husband Hilbert Strobel of Centertown, Mo. She has five great- grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a simple person and likef simple things. She enjoyed taking vacations and traveling with her children. She was always concerned about and doing things for her family and friends. Her life was built on a very close relationship with her children and grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the First Baptist Church Chapel, 301 East Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, Mo., where a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Doyle Sager officiating. Mrs. Blumhost donated her body to medical science for anatomical research. Her remains will be cremated and graveside services will be held at a later date in Clinton, Mo. at the Engelwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Music fund of the First Baptist Church, or to SSM Hospice, 1241 W. Stadium Blvd., Suite L201, Jefferson City, MO 65109, or the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to thank SSM Hospice for the care they gave Anna Jane during her last days and to all the family and church friends who gave support to her daughter during these times.
