Susie E. Schnieders, 86, of Jefferson City, died Friday, January 20, 2012, at her home. She was born August 9, 1925, in Jefferson City, a daughter of August and Dora (Propst) Engelbrecht. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School at Honey Creek. On May 21, 1949, Susie was united in marriage to Joseph A. Schnieders, who survives at their home. Susie was a devoted wife to her husband of 62 years and was an excellent mother to her two daughters. She also cared deeply and babysat for her grandchildren often. Sundays were special days at mom's/grandma's with excellent home cooked meals. The family spent many weekends at the river where Susie loved to fish and play cards. Her life was centered around her family. She worked at Busch's Lake, International Shoe Factory and Chesebrough Ponds until her retirement. She was a homemaker. Susie also loved to garden and make quilts, but might best be remembered for the smile on her face. She is also survived by two daughters: Nancy K. Gratz and husband Bill of Wardsville and Brenda S. Roling and husband Fred of Wardsville; five sisters: Leona Hoelscher, Freda Benne, Marie Loesch, Dorothy Ehrhardt, Ruby Kautsch; five grandchildren: Craig (Jayne) Gratz, Travis (Judy) Roling, Kim (Greg) Sandbothe, Troy (Mindy) Roling, and Kristi Gratz; eight great- grandchildren: Tyler Gratz, Logan Gratz, Clayton Roling, Cole Sandbothe, Kaitlyn Sandbothe, Dawson Roling, Carson Roling, and Kate Roling; three step- grandchildren: Kaylee Merry, Alec Sieg, and Olivia Sieg; and five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Gertie Engelbrecht, Kate Engelbrecht, Margie Rackers, Rose Shelton and husband Topper, Tom Schnieders and wife Joan. Two brothers, Tony and Adam Engelbrecht, preceded her in death. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Home, where a prayer service, led by Fr. Greg Meystrik, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Honey Creek, with Rev. Jeffrey Schanbacher officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Building Fund.
