Larry Gale Callahan, 69, of Waynesville, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at his daughter's residence. He was born February 17, 1942, in Flat River, the son of the late George Everett and Faye Farmer Callahan. Larry was a graduate of Mexico High School in Mexico, and he received a Bachelors in Horticulture from the University of Missouri. He worked on the Missouri River barges. He was a member and worked for the Laborers Union Local 959 of Columbia. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved watching football, helping people and reading his bible. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by six children: Christine Goodin (Cecil) of Henley, Sonya Libbert (Marlin) of Holts Summit, Marshia Walker (Ronald) of California, Jeffrey Callahan (Judy) of Harrisburg, Troy Callahan (Angie) of Harrisburg, Jennifer Carmen (Brock) of Waynesville; one brother: Bob Callahan (Pat) of Kansas City; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Henley Cemetery, Henley. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
